Making money with a laser cutter
People are making money with a laser cutter. Still, can YOU make money from owning a laser cutter/engraver or 3D printer? The sort answer is a conditional, yes. So what does that mean?
Many people buy a laser cutter/engraver or 3D printer right after a convention (like CES), seeing something on Etsy, or after reading a post online. They get excited about the possibilities when they hear the presenter talk in the booth, see the commercial, watch a video, or read the story of exceptional success on the web. There are so many pictures and videos of the cool and nifty (yes, we said nifty) things that can be made and sold by a person who has the correct hardware in their house/shop/company. It is a simple as purchasing a unit and the money rolls in!
Well that really isn't true, no matter what the salesman and web sites say. However it isn't an impossibility either. Their are people who have made a successful business out of a small investment. How did they do that?
It doesn't take a lot
Many have started with an idea, designed a product, and brought it to market by making it one hundred percent in house. They purchase the equipment needed with capital they have or borrow and set up shop. There are many for whom this is not an option. This is going to be their side hustle, not their full time job, well at least for now. So, what do you do?
There are options on both sides, those who have made the investment and those who cannot afford the investment, can work together to produce products. While the money typically will not come rolling in, it will at least start to wander in the door if the product is viable and valued.
Fortunately, we have the Internet to help us connect. Web sites with ideas, forums with answers, videos that show the how-to for running the equipment. Now the trick is connecting the haves with the have not's, and by the we mean those who have equipment or ideas with those who don't.
We will spend time in our blog flushing out the ways of bringing some of that money to you. There are plenty of people who either have an idea or have the equipment, and money is there for both. Remember, for many this is a side hustle not their main source of income and we will talk more about that in a coming post.
